The Daily Dose with Dr. Daryl L. Williams

A Word every day to get you on your way!

Here is the Daily Dose for Thursday, November 19, 2020.

Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. Lamentations 3:22

You’re Still Here

At many colleges, there is a puzzling ritual. They sit all of the freshmen in an auditorium, and some very official person comes and makes an inspirational speech. The speech usually is to welcome these new faces to campus, give them some hope, and excite them about the road ahead. Then typically, some other official-looking person, in the effort to make the new students know what a serious endeavor this is, tells them to look to the left and look to the right because one of these people will not be here by graduation. I suppose it is supposed to be motivational, but since everybody has looked at somebody, that means nobody is supposed to be here by graduation. Like I said puzzling.

Yet, for the believer, we know that we are going to be here. We know this because God loves us enough that he will not let us not make it. We will all have our good days and our bad days, but God promises that he loves us enough that our bad days won’t be the last of our days. God promises that he loves us enough that mishaps, troubles, and mistakes can’t make him give up on us. He loves us through our flaws and promises that even when we fail, his love never will.

Friends, you may have some days when you feel like you are not going to make it. You may even have some days when you feel like everyone is wondering how you are still here. Those are the days that should put a smile on your face. It is on those days that you know you are only still here because God still loves you. It is on those days that you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is still a purpose for your life and a god that is making all thing work together for you. So take heart, and keep your head up. The proof that God is real and that He loves you is that you’re still here.

Be Blessed,
