The Daily Dose with Dr. Daryl L. Williams

A Word every day to get you on your way!

Here is the Daily Dose for Monday, November 9, 2020.

And  David was greatly distressed; for the people spoke of stoning him because the souls of all the people were grieved, every man for his sons and daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God. 1 Samuel 30:6

Carry On

If you have ever reached your breaking point, you know it is not a good feeling. It always happens the same way, things build-up, and you feel like you can’t go any further. It typically starts with something small and builds from there. It may be missing your alarm, so you start your day late. Then the project you’ve been working on goes horribly wrong. Your lunch order at the deli gets messed up, but it doesn’t matter because you get called into a meeting and don’t have time to eat it anyway. Then when you think it couldn’t get any worse, you get home and wind up in an argument with your spouse because you forgot to move the laundry from the washer to the dryer, and the clothes soured. The preponderance of the day is enough to make you want to give up and have a complete and total meltdown. Don’t.

You can’t let a bad day, week, or month get you down. If you do, you can wind up in danger of heading down the dark path to discouragement. Discouragement happens when we begin to believe that one bad day will only lead to another. Then we begin to take our circumstances personally and believe that what we are going through is who we are. Before you know it, you are having trouble getting up in the morning, you can’t find a smile for your face, and you are living under a dark cloud of gloom and doom. Friends, that is when the enemy has you right where he wants you. When you are discouraged, you can’t live freely, pursue goals, or have the joy that God wants for you. That is when the enemy has won. Don’t let him win.

Freinds, we will all have bad days from time to time. It is in those moments that you have to encourage yourself. You can’t wait for someone else to come and give you a pep talk, do it yourself. Remind yourself that you are valuable. Remind yourself that you are loved. Remind yourself that you are not what you are going through. Remind yourself that you are a child of God and that He has a plan for you. When you remind yourself of who you are and who your God is, you will begin to see that what is happening to you is just a walk in the park. You will begin to be encouraged to fight on, move on, and carry on. So don’t let a situation get you down. Encourage yourself in the Lord and carry on. You’ve got this!!

Be Blessed,

Rev
