A Word every day to get you on your way!
Here is the Daily Dose for Tuesday, October 6, 2020.
So in Christ Jesus, you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. Galatians 3:26-27
I have always thought of myself as fashionable. Even when I was a little boy, I liked having a nice outfit on, but like all people, I had my favorite outfit. I got to wear my favorite outfit once a week and only once a week. I would put it on every Saturday morning, and I would be ready to step out of the house in style. What was this special outfit, you ask? It was my Cub Scouts uniform.
Yes, of all the clothes that I had, there were none that I loved more than that blue shirt with all the patches, those blue pants, the yellow handkerchief, and that little blue cap. Sure, it wasn’t the most fashionable outfit, but it was the most meaningful. That outfit meant that I was a part of something bigger than me. It meant that I was a part of an organization with meaning and purpose, and when I was wearing it with my fellow scouts, we were more than the sum of our parts.
Friends, when we take up faith and put on Christ, it is as if we have put on a uniform. We have publically announced that we are a part of something bigger and more important that who we are as individuals. When we put on Christ, we become a part of the global Church, the body of Christ. So every day, stand tall, walk proudly, you are a child of the king, and you have put on Christ. That is the best outfit you can have.
