Here is the Daily Dose for Thursday, September 10, 2020.

A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls. Proverbs 25:28

Authorized Entry

The last time I was in New York City, I saw something very interesting. There is always a lot of construction going on in New York, so you get used to seeing certain things. You get accustomed to seeing construction crews. You get accustomed to seeing tall cranes. You get accustomed to seeing material, supplies, and construction workers come and go. You get used to seeing all of these things through little windows. You see, in New York, when a construction project is underway, they build walls around the property with these bit of windows for you to look through. The walls are there for safety and security, but the windows are there to let you take a peek at the progress of the work.

What was different this time was when I peeked in the window, I saw kids running around in the construction site. It seems that unbeknownst to the builders, there was a section of the wall that was not attached properly. So if you knew where that section was, you could walk right into the construction site without any problems. These kids had found it and were having a jolly good time. Luckily, someone had called the management company, and they send someone down who cleared the are and secured the property. IF that had not happened, Lord only knows what could have gone wrong there.

Friends, sometimes our lives are like that construction site. We have not created the proper walls to ensure that people don’t just run around uninvited, causing mischief. When we don’t have the appropriate walls up, people can take what is valuable to us, play in places in our lives that should be sacred, and leave us having to pick up the pieces. If you are going to have good walls in your life, the first thing you will need is self-control. Self-control allows us to be vigilant about who we let in and what we let out of our lives. Self-control makes sure that what is let in is for our good, and that we only let out what is necessary. So if you are looking at your life and there are a bunch of people playing with you, put them out and build yourself a good wall. That way, you will have secured your property for only authorized entry.

Be Blessed,

Rev
