Save The Drama

One of my guilty pleasures is reality television. Every time I need a good pick me up, I flip a show on. It doesn’t really matter which one because they are all the same. In every episode, someone does something, someone else finds out, and at some point, they rush over to have a big confrontation. There are all types of yelling, screaming, and if it’s a good episode, a table gets flipped over. Then someone breaks it up, and they have to have a sit down to decide who was right, who was wrong, and how they will get over it and move on until the next episode.

The funny thing is they could cut out one of the scenes, and it would be much better. They can keep the who did this and who did that. They can keep the sit down at the end to sort things out. What they don’t need is the heated confrontation. People will do things that offend each other, and those things have to be sorted out to save relationships and move on, but you don’t have to have the fight. The fight only happens because someone gets jacked up and rushes in, typically without all of the facts, and the other person rushes to defend themselves, and all hell breaks loose. It funny, it provides drama, but in real life, it is entirely unnecessary.

Friends, much of the drama in our lives is because we rush into things. When we don’t stop, settle down, and think, we wind up in entirely avoidable situations. Think about the last five arguments you were in. I am willing to bet if you had taken a moment to stop, control your emotions, and then react, there would not have been an argument at all. So the next time you see drama coming your way, stop, think, get control, and skip the fight. That way, you can have more fun and no more drama.

Be Blessed,

Rev
