The Daily Dose with Dr. Daryl L. Williams

A Word every day to get you on your way!

Here is the Daily Dose for Wednesday, June 17, 2020.

For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. 1 John 5:4

Undefeated

I love watching Rocky movies. I have seen all of them, including all the new Creed movies at least three times each. What I love about these movies are the boxing sequences. While the writing and the storylines can be hit or miss, the boxing action never disappoints. They shoot the films in such a way that it takes you into the ring with the boxers and allows you to experience the fight for yourself. You get jarred by each punch. You can see the pain on the face of the fighters. It is almost as if you can feel the sweat landing on you when a hard punch is thrown. It really is fantastic to watch. It is so well done that you actually forget that you already know who is going to win.

Unlike in a real boxing match, in the Rocky fights, you already know who is going to win the fight at the end. What you are watching for is to see how they win the fight. They win the fight the same way we win in real life. Number one, they don’t give up. No matter how hard they are hit, the winner of a Rocky fight never gives up. Number two, they keep punching. The winner of a Rock fight keeps punching. No matter if they are tired, hurt, or feeling like they just can’t win, they keep on punching. Finally, the winner of the Rocky fight keeps believing in spite of the odds. They never let the fact that the fight seems over make them doubt that they can win.

Friends, for the believer, life is like a Rocky fight. You are going to win in the end, you just don’t know how you are going to pull it off. Every child of God defeats the evil of the world. Through our faith, we are undefeated. We are on the side of a God that does have not and will never lose. Now, that does not mean we won’t get hit, knocked down, and be hurt from time to time; that’s just part of the fight. But no matter what happens, don’t give up, keep punching, and always believe. That is how you remain undefeated.

Be Blessed,

Rev
