Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

Moving Day

My niece was terrified of the dark. When she spent time at our house, everything was fine until it was bedtime. Like most kids, she was never really ready to go to bed, but that wasn’t the problem. Once she settled down and went to sleep, she would often start crying in the middle of the night. We’d check on her, and she would go back to sleep, but after a while, it was so often that we had to have a chat. So I asked her what was wrong. She told me she couldn’t tell me. After some talking, she finally said, “There’s a monster in the closet.”

I was shocked to find out that after all this time, there was a monster living for free in my home. I got her out of bed, and we decided to go get rid of the monster. We got a baseball bat, and some lemon pledge and went monster hunting. The problem was, we couldn’t find him. We checked all of the closets, looked out the window, and made sure the alarm was on so he couldn’t get back in, but he was gone. Once she talked about the monster, we got rid of the monster, and he never came back. My niece slept like a baby from that night on.

Friends, many of us are living afraid of the monster in the closet. We are carrying around all manner of frightening scenarios in our minds. One of the greatest tricks of the enemy is keeping us afraid of what may be. When we are fearful of what may be, we often won’t talk about it. We keep it to ourselves and carry it from place to place. In short, it gets to live rent-free in your head. The only way to kick those monsters out is to talk about them. Tell the Lord what makes you afraid. Once you get it out of your head and lay it before the Lord, you will see it may not be real, it’s not as frightening as you thought, and God cares enough for you to take care of it. So don’t give free rent to monsters in your head. Lay them before the Lord, and they will move out.

Be Blessed,

Rev
