The Daily Dose with Dr. Daryl L. Williams

A Word every day to get you on your way!

Here is the Daily Dose for Wednesday, March 18, 2020.

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. Isaiah 40:28

Who Is That?

We often do not appreciate what we don’t understand. People who are really good at something often make it look so easy that we think we can do it too. We figure we’ve seen this a million times. How hard could it possibly be? This often happens to me when I am watching basketball. I watch the game and I get it into my mind that I can certainly do that. Not the dunks, because I am but so tall, but I can certainly make those three-pointers. I can absolutely make those free throws. If I only had the chance I could absolutely do that. Except I can’t.

We often believe that we can do stuff because we don’t realize that the people who make it look easy are not just incredibly gifted, but they have worked very hard at what they are doing. We don’t know the years of dedication, the hours of work, and the months of training that allow for that level of skill and accomplishment. We don’t realize that nobody can just walk in and be great from the beginning without even trying, except there is one person who can, God.

Friends, as hard as we work we will never be God. God is different than us, beyond us, and we can never be Him. Many times we think we can run the world if we were just given the chance, but only God can do that. Only God can do that because only God created the world. Only God is everlasting. Only God has been here since before there was a beginning and will be hereafter there is an ending. When we understand all that He is, we understand that we can’t even begin to understand who He is, simply because of who He is.

Be Blessed,
