The Daily Dose with Dr. Daryl L. Williams

A Word every day to get you on your way!

Here is the Daily Dose for Thursday, February 13, 2020.

I lie down and sleep; I wake again because the Lord sustains me. Psalm 3:5

God’s Got Me

There is nothing better than watching a child sleep. It is great to watch because you know what led to this glorious moment of silence. You know that there has been crying. You know that there has been yelling. You know that there has been a drawn-out negotiation about how many vegetables have to be eaten before you can leave the table. There also have been requests for water, something to eat and another story all in the attempt to not go to sleep. So when you finally look down and see the calm sleeping face of your child there is nothing quite like it.

I imagine that is what it is like for the Lord as well. After watching us run here there and everywhere all day I imagine the Lord is pleased when he watches his children sleep. He has seen us struggling through the day. He has seen us arguing with people. He has watched as we fought traffic, made dinner, dealt with our children and did all of this after a full day’s work and all that came with it. He has also seen us sitting up worrying and concerned about stuff that we can’t control keeping ourselves from going to sleep. So like a parent, I am sure the Lord smiles when we finally put our heads down and rest from our days.

Friends, like children, we can sleep well at night because God’s got this. No matter how much they put us through before going to sleep kids sleep soundly because they fully expect their parents to keep them safe, fight the dragon under the bed, and be there in the morning. When they finally go to sleep, they sleep soundly as if they don’t have a care in the world because they know as long as mom and dad are around everything is going to be alright. We should take the same approach. Never forget, you are a child of God. When you lay down at night you should rest assured that God is still in charge. You should rest well knowing that he is fighting your battles, providing for your needs, and will be there in the morning. So lay down, get some rest because the Lord is there protecting and sustaining you.

Be Blessed,

Rev
