The Daily Dose with Dr. Daryl L. Williams

A Word every day to get you on your way!

Here is the Daily Dose for Monday, February 10, 2020.

Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.” Psalm 3:2

Everybody’s Got an Opinion

Because I spend a good amount of time in my car stuck in traffic, I listen to the radio a lot. My preferred stations are sports talk stations. I like to make sure that I know what is going on with my teams and with the sports world in general. After the updates, you typically get a bunch of talking heads filling the airwaves and boy do they talk. It doesn’t matter what has gone on in the sports world, these guys have an opinion. If there is a win, they have an opinion about it. If there is a loss, they have an opinion about it. They always know what could have been done differently, done better or most importantly what they would have done if it had been them.

In the same way that these radio personalities talk about sports, I have come to see that there are people who talk about people in the same way. There are people who have commentary, opinions, and will spend tons of time discussing you. They somehow know everything that you have done, everything that you are doing and are not afraid to tell you, and anyone else who will listen, what exactly you should be doing. If you listen to them enough, you will begin to believe that you can’t do anything right and that you should check in with them before you do anything, just to get their opinion, DON’T.

Friends, as long as you are doing something people will have an opinion. They will want to judge, criticize and occasionally complement what you are up to. What you need to know is that their opinions don’t really matter. Everyone has an opinion, but you don’t have to listen to all of them. From the outside looking in things always look one way, but from the inside looking out they may look completely different. So don’t let people’s opinions sway you, make sure you are following God, living in your calling and doing the best you can. When you do that, you will begin to see that the opinions that matter are yours and God’s. By the way, if you and God are in disagreement, go with his opinion he knows better.

Be Blessed,

Rev
