The Daily Dose with Dr. Daryl L. Williams

A Word every day to get you on your way!

Here is the Daily Dose for Wednesday, February 5, 2020.

Give me a sign of your goodness, that my enemies may see it and be put to shame, for you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me. Psalm 86:17

Show Them

“You can’t do that!” Every time I have heard those words it has stirred something in me. It may be my unique wiring or just the New Yorker in me, but when I am told I can’t do something it makes me want to do it even more. It is the notion that I can’t do something that pushes me, keeps me going, and makes me work hard no matter what the obstacles It is people saying that I can’t do something that makes me reach higher, try harder, and attempt more and more difficult things in life, just to prove that I can do that. Yet, I am going to let you in on a secret. Sometimes when people tell me I can’t do something a part of me believes them.

No matter how confident you or I may be, there are times when a little bit of doubt creeps into all of us. It may be the day that you don’t get the big promotion. It could be the day that everything that was supposed to go right in the project goes horrifically wrong. No matter what brings it on, it is natural to think that maybe they were right. It is in those moments that you need the words of Psalm 86 the most. It is in those times that you need God to give you a sign that you are on the right track, doing the right thing, and that now is not the time to give up.

Friends, when you try to do something big you can count on three things, doubters and setbacks, and God. There will be a chorus of people who are there to tell you that you can’t do something. They will remind you that you haven’t done it, maybe nobody else has, and you should certainly give up. There will also be setbacks. There will be days that go wrong, projects that fail and times that you really just want to give up. Finally, there will always be God. The big thing that you want to do may very well be the reason God put you here on earth. That is why he will along the way give you signs to remind you that you can do it, and he is with you. It is in those moments that you pick your head up, keep going and get closer to victory. It is also at that moment that the people who have been telling you that you can’t do it will also see the sign that tells them you might just pull this off.

Be Blessed,

Rev
