The Daily Dose with Dr. Daryl L. Williams

A Word every day to get you on your way!

Here is the Daily Dose for Monday, January 6, 2020.

Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. Genesis 1:3

Lights On

My son’s newest obsessions is flashlights. One day he saw me looking under a chair with a flashlight and it was life-changing for him. He immediately took the flashlight from me and started to examine it. He was interested in seeing how it turned on and how it turned off. He wanted to look directly into the light, we stopped him. But most of all, he wanted to shine the light on things. So now he walks around the house shinning the flashlight on things. He doesn’t just do this in the dark mind you, he shines the light into perfectly well-lit areas, while exclaiming, “Light, Light, Light!”

His obsession with this light has actually helped around the house. We have found headphones that were long since forgotten. We have found dog toys that I am pretty sure were hidden by our dog and he wanted them there. We have also places on our floors that need a little more buffing, places on the wall where our son was “practicing” his handwriting, and a few other imperfections around the house that we had overlooked because there simply was not enough light to notice them. Yet, now that our son is shining a light on everything it is allowing us to find new things, fox old things, and make everything better because we can see it now.

Friends, there will be some times in your life when God is going to proclaim, “Let there be light.” It is in those moments that God wants you to see some things. He wants you to see some things that you have lost, but you can find again. He wants you to see some things that are good, but that you can make great. He wants you to see some things that have been in your life but are ready to go, and he also wants you to see that there is space for things that God is sending your way. So as you go through your day, and your year, remember God may exclaim, “Let there be light,” just so you can see things more clearly now.

Be Blessed,

Rev
