The Daily Dose with Dr. Daryl L. Williams

A Word every day to get you on your way!

Here is the Daily Dose for Friday, November 15, 2019.

So patient endurance is what you need now so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised. Hebrews 10:36

Don’t Give Up Now!

“How am I supposed to keep going?” This was the question a colleague asked me a couple of years ago. She was in the midst of a difficult time at work and was ready to quit. She had written her resignation letter, prepared her resume and was on the verge of walking away from it all. She was tired. She was tired of feeling like she was not making any progress. She was tired of feeling like she was wasting her time and energy. She was tired working her tail off and feeling overwhelmed, unappreciated, and as if she should be doing something different with her life. I listened patiently to her tell me the whole story and I had one question for her, “Then what? What do you do the day after?”

She stared at me blankly after that question. I wanted her to realize that quitting was not going to solve her problem. You see she was gifted, doing great work that she believed she was called to, and really making a difference but she was in the messy middle. The messy middle is that place where the excitement of beginning has worn off and we are too far from the celebrations of the end. The messy middle is that place where it seems like nothing is changing, nothing is working and that giving up is the only answer, but as with most things, everything is not what it seems.

Many times we miss that God gives us everything that we need. We often think of that as blessings, health or financial prosperity but that is far too limited of a view. The scriptures tell us that God will supply all of our needs according to his riches. All means all. In the messy middle what you need is patient endurance to keep going. Patient endurance allows you to keep working, not lose your mind, and to keep going towards the goal. Patient endurance allows you to keep pushing when you feel like it isn’t working, keep going when you want to give up, and stay focused when everything is telling you to do something else. Friends, you will never receive the promises of God or achieve the things that he has put on your heart if you keep giving up in the middle. It is my prayer for you that you will be blessed with patient endurance in your messy middles so that you can make it to the end and receive the promises of God.

Be Blessed,

Rev
