The Daily Dose with Dr. Daryl L. Williams

A Word every day to get you on your way!

Here is the Daily Dose for Wednesday, October 9, 2019.

When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, Lord God Almighty. Jeremiah 15:16

A Good Meal

I love to eat. I have friends that just eat for nutrition and don’t really care about food, I don’t understand them. I find real joy in a good meal. It can be a well-prepared steak from a downtown steakhouse, wings and mumbo sauce from my favorite carryout, or anything in between. If it is well prepared and delicious count me in. For me, a great meal is not only nourishment but it is also an experience. It is the sight of the dish almost glowing off the plate. It is the smell of the dish, wafting into my nostrils creating the expectation of things to come. The whole experience is just something I look forward to.

The Word of God can be just like that. When you begin to really cherish the word of God it becomes a different experience. Too often we only go to the word when we are in trouble or if we are in church, but what if we made it more than that? What if we decided to feast on the word of God? What if we decided today to every day approach the word of God with the expectation that it will not only nourish us but that we can also enjoy it? We can enjoy the melodious sound of the rhythm of the Psalms. We can be fascinated by the history contained in 1st and 2nd Kings. We can be brought to tears with the conviction found in the book of Revelation. We can find extreme joy in knowing the miracles of the book of John.

When we decide to really enjoy the word of God and feast on it what we find is that is it fulfilling in all ways, nourishing at all times and can bring us joy on any occasion. So today, take some time to not only use the word for perfunctory purposes but take some time to really enjoy it.

Be Blessed,

Rev
