The Daily Dose with Dr. Daryl L. Williams

A Word every day to get you on your way!

Here is the Daily Dose for Tuesday, October 8, 2019.

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 8:32

The Truth Is Out There

One of my favorite television shows in the 90s was The X-Files. The show traced the work of two FBI agents who were tasked to look into what was called the X-Files. The X-Files were cases that involved unexplained and paranormal phenomena. These were the cases that didn’t make sense to anyone and that nobody else wanted because they wouldn’t lead to advancement on the FBI if you worked on them. Yet, the protagonist of the show, Agent Mulder, spent his career working on these cases because he believed that “the truth was out there.”

What I always admired about Agent Mulder was his unquenchable search for the truth. No matter what obstacle or what people said, Agent Mulder, wanted to know the truth. He wanted to know if there really were ghosts. He really wanted to know if people did have paranormal powers and if there was paranormal activity. But what he really wanted to know was if there are aliens and are we alone. While I was not particularly interested in the answers to those questions, I was interested in his undying need to know what the truth was.

Friends, in a world where so much is changing, the only thing we really have to depend on is the truth, and the truth is the word of God. The word of God does not change and it is the firm foundation that you can build your life on. It is not here today and gone tomorrow. It is not unknowable or unreachable. The truth is simply found in the word of God and the teachings of Jesus Christ. So take some time to be like Agent Mulder and no matter what happens keep looking for the truth, because it is the truth that will set you free.

Be Blessed,

Rev
