A Word every day to get you on your way!

Here is the Daily Dose for Wednesday, September 4, 2019.

God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. Hebrews 6:10

Keeping Track

I am amazed by the jobs that people love. I have a friend who is a customer service representative for a major company. He is the guy that answers the phone when you are calling in because you are upset about something and need someone to yell at. I thought it was the worst job in the world, but he absolutely loves it. One day I asked him why and was completely blown away by his answer. He said he likes helping people solve problems. Every time his phone rings at work he knows that there is someone on the other end with a problem that needs to be solved. That problem may be ruining their day, may be ongoing, or may be just a one-time thing but it is a problem for them; and he can help. Every call allows him to solve a problem and that can make the person on the other end of the phone have just a little bit better of a day.

I was absolutely amazed. What I thought was the worst job in the world, he saw as a way to make lives better. He saw every phone call as a way to help someone having a bad day and make their life a little bit better. So every phone call wasn’t drudgery, it was an opportunity. It was an opportunity to have a real effect, on the real-life, of a real person. Every day he sees himself not as taking calls but as making a real difference in the world. This got me to thinking about what it means to make a difference.

Friends, we can all make a difference. Often times we think we need to do something big and on a huge platform to make a difference. We think we have to be Gandhi or Martin Luther King Jr. to make a difference. We can make a difference by doing a little thing that makes somebody’s life different at that moment. Something as simple as holding a door open, or sharing a smile, or maybe giving your seat on the metro to someone who really looks like they need a break at that moment. When we do that, we make a difference in that person’s world, right then and there. So friends take a moment to make a difference to someone today. Even if it is just a little thing, know that God sees you and that He’s proud of you.

Be Blessed,

Rev
