The Daily Dose with Dr. Daryl L. Williams

A Word every day to get you on your way!

Here is the Daily Dose for Thursday, August 22, 2019.

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity. Proverbs 17:17

It has been said, “It’s lonely at the top.” Many of us have taken that to mean that the more you do and the higher you go the fewer people that will be there. We assume that the higher we go the fewer people that can hang on. We also assume that people may not be able to handle our success. Sometimes, we assume that the price of fulfilling our potential is we won’t have anyone to share it with when we arrive. We assume that in the end we will be successful but alone because people won’t be able to handle it. What if we are wrong? What if the reason the actual reason it is lonely at the top is that we chose the wrong friends to begin with.

A real friend is a friend in the high times and the low times. Real friends want you to succeed and want to celebrate you while you’re doing it as well as comfort you in your failures and disappointments. Our real friends become like family, and family never leaves. Family, sticks with you, stays with you, and family is there at the bottom and at the top. If you have the right friends, it will never be lonely at the top because they will be right there with you.

Friends, you can’t do life alone. You need some people who will be there with you in good times and in bad times. You need people who you can trust, and who can trust you. You need friends who you know will be there no matter what. Ultimately, friends are the family you choose. They are the people that you have picked to go on the ride of life with you. So choose wisely. Choose people who can handle you at your worst, but will also be there cheering for you at your best. It can be lonely at the top, but not if you’ve got the right friends.

Be Blessed,
