The Daily Dose with Dr. Daryl L. Williams

A Word every day to get you on your way!

Here is the Daily Dose for Tuesday, August 13, 2019.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7

Give it a Minute

I don’t know about you, but I have often found myself running behind schedule in life. I don’t mean regular behind schedule like being delayed by traffic or just getting a late start and arriving late. I mean running years behind schedule. There were things that I had planned out for my life that just didn’t happen when I had them scheduled. I got married later than I had scheduled. I had children later than I scheduled. I won’t even get into the personal and professional accomplishments that all also showed up, but much later than I had planned. For years, it drove me nuts. I was doing all I could to get things done “on time,” but it wasn’t happening, and it was making me incredibly anxious.

The anxiety wasn’t crippling, but it was pretty bad. You see, when things didn’t happen on time, I would begin to get anxious that they wouldn’t happen at all. I would start to fret that I had missed out, the plan wasn’t going to work and what I wanted would never come to pass. None of this was right, it was just the effect of letting anxiety get to me. That’s when I learned that any promotion, advancement, or uplift wasn’t ultimately in my hands. The things that I was trying to make happen in life were not ultimately in my control, they were in God’s hands. Every time, in due time, God would open a door, and the elevation, event, or accomplishment that I was anxious for would come to pass.

Friends, sometimes you have to stop stressing, stop worrying, and just leave it in God’s hands. When we accept that God is in control and that things will happen in His time, we can stop being anxious and hand our cares over to God. God loves us enough that he will grant us the desires of our hearts in his time. So stop worrying, stop being anxious, it may take a little longer than you think, but if you turn it over to God, he will take care of it because he cares for you.

Be Blessed,

Rev
