And he believed the Lord; and the Lord credited it to him as righteousness. Genesis 15:6

Extra Credit

I was a good student in school. If you looked at my grades they were absolutely fantastic. Part of the secret to my good grades was that even though I studied and did well on tests, any time the teacher offered extra credit I would do it. If you could get extra credit for an essay, I’d write the essay. If you could get extra credit for doing a book report, count me in on the book report. Any time the teacher offered a few points here or there for just a little extra work I was ready willing and able. The way I saw it, extra credit was the perfect back up plan just in case something went wrong later.

In the same way that doing extra credit kept my grades spectacular, extra credit can be the difference between having a good life and an extraordinary one. You see, for the believer, we often miss out on things that God has for us because we won’t do the extra credit work. For many of us, we get complacent and satisfied with just doing what we are supposed to do. We follow God, we do the things in His word and we get the results that come with it. That will give you a good life, but God gives extra credit when you believe Him. Believing God requires stepping beyond the ordinary and believing that God is capable of the extraordinary. It requires looking at what is possible then knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that God can do more than what we think is possible if we just believe Him.

Friends, if you want an extraordinary life, you can’t just do the minimum. To have an extraordinary life, you have to find new ways and new places to believe God. You have to start to look at the places in your life where you have not let God in, the things that you have written off as impossible, and the places that you know you want to take to another level and begin to believe God in those areas. Believing God in those areas will stretch your faith, push your prayer life and most importantly God will count it towards righteousness. When we believe God, God gives us extra credit because God knows that those who believe Him love Him and He loves those who believe Him.

Be Blessed,

Rev
