The Daily Dose with Dr. Daryl L. Williams

A Word every day to get you on your way!

Here is the Daily Dose for Friday, May 10, 2019.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. Psalm 10:4

T.G.I.T.

I used to love Fridays. It meant it was the end of the week and I had survived. No matter what drama had happened at work or school, Friday meant that there was going to be a break, some time to rest and recover from the week that was. Most importantly Friday meant that the weekend was in full effect. So all week I would look forward to Fridays patiently waiting for that one fateful day that I could be happy and thank God. The only problem was there were six other days in the week.

One day I realized that I was having a really good Wednesday. Sure I was going to have to come back to work tomorrow but today was a great day. That Wednesday made me wonder, how many great Wednesday had I missed looking forward to Friday. For that matter, there was probably a magnificent Monday in there somewhere. There may have even been a terrific Tuesday that I missed. If I was honest, there was most likely a triumphant Thursday, a superb Saturday, and a sublime Sunday that I had forgotten to thank God for because I was so focused on Fridays. It was on that day that I change my attitude from Thank God It’s Friday to Thank God It’s Today.

Friends, every day is a day to thank God. For every day that God gives us we should be thankful that we are here to experience it. If we are honest, the fact that God is with us has given us another day and given us another chance is a reason always to be thankful to him. When we realize this, we can stop looking forward to Friday and living for the weekend. When we realize that God is good to us every day, we can live in the moment, soak up the greatness of this day and begin to Thank God It’s Today!

Be Blessed,

Rev
