The Daily Dose with Dr. Daryl L. Williams

A Word every day to get you on your way!

Here is the Daily Dose for Thursday, March 14, 2019.

Fools mock at making amends for sin, but goodwill is found among the upright. Proverbs 14:9

Magic Words

There are no harder words in any language to say than, “I’m sorry.” We all make mistakes, but we aren’t all willing to say that we are sorry. Sometimes, we hope that nobody will know about the mistake that we have made. Other times, we know that the mistake is known, but we aren’t willing to fess up that it is our mistake. Still other times, we know it is our mistake, everyone else knows it’s our mistake, but we simply can’t bring ourselves to make amends for what we have done. For many people it is because they think saying I’m sorry will weaken them, so they keep going along unwilling to say the magic words, I’m sorry.

I’m sorry are magic words. They are magic because they are so rarely used. When we say I’m sorry we are doing more than admitting wrong, we are also saying I care enough to say that I was wrong. We are saying that the harm that I have done to you doesn’t just mean something to you, it means something to me as well. Saying I’m sorry means that the other person is valued, honored and cared for, and that you don’t want a misdeed to tear destroy a relationship.

Today may be the day to do some magic. The day to simply say the words that you have needed to say to someone for a long time, I’m sorry. It could be for a small slight or something that happened years ago, but the words still hold their magic. When you say them, you will see a smile come across a face. When you say them, you will see a heart melt. When you say them, most of all, you will feel better. So take some time today, and say the magic words.

Be Blessed.
