Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12
A great comedian once said, “Timing is everything.” When you are telling a joke, you can’t be too fast with the punch line, or too slow. You can’t say it when people are expecting it, but you can’t catch them so far off guard that they miss it. You have to deliver the line at just the right time. Many of us have been living our lives by the rule timing is everything. We want to make sure that we do things in just the right way, at just the right time, to insure that it goes just as we hoped. So we delay things over and over again waiting for the time to be just right. We consider it smart and prudent because we don’t want to mess up the timing. The problem is we are living lives based on advice for a joke.
The truth of the matter is, in life, timing is important but it is not everything. Many of us use the thought about the right timing as an excuse to not do something. We decide not to start something because the timing isn’t right. We decide not to end something, because the timing isn’t right. We stay in things that are way past their expiration date, because the timing isn’t right. Day by day waiting in the perfect timing we lose our joy, peace and hope because there is something in our hearts that we need to be doing, but we are waiting because of the timing. So we live half an existence, with half of what we could have because we have convinced ourselves that the timing isn’t right for us to have what we in out heart desire.
Today, I want to pronounce that the timing is exactly right, right now. Yes, right now. Right now is the time to step out on faith and chase what is in your heart. Right now is the time to put your dreams to the test and your plan to work. Right now, is the time to start something, end something, continue something or repeat something. The only thing now is not the time to do is keep doing nothing. You see, ultimately all we have is right now. All we have is this moment to do what we are going to do one day, to be who we are going to be one day, and to have what we want to have at some point. Right now, is the start of all that is to come. So stop waiting on the right time. The perfect time is right now.
